App State encourages participation in UNC System’s racial equity virtual town hall meetings

The University of North Carolina System has announced a series of virtual town hall meetings to be held through Oct. 29. These sessions — which are open to faculty, staff and students of all 17 UNC System institutions, including Appalachian State University — support the work of its Racial Equity Task Force, a special committee established by the UNC Board of Governors.

Space is limited and participants are encouraged to register early. Participants must have a valid email address from a UNC System institution in order to register.

These town hall meetings complement the System-wide racial equity survey conducted last month that garnered more than 16,000 submissions.

According to the Racial Equity Task Force website, the feedback gleaned from these sessions will “inform our recommendations to the Board of Governors and UNC System Office.”

UNC System stakeholders can also share feedback through the Share Your Ideas online form or by emailing racialequity@northcarolina.edu.
